Where Does Time Go?

This time last year I was on my first visit to Romania, yet it does not seem a year has passed already!
I continue to visit the ill babies (orphans and abandoned) in the wards and help wash them and change nappies. At other times I help in the unit for physically or mentally disabled children and in the playroom where many children find relief from pain and from drab surroundings of a packed ward.
It is such a joy to see little Ana, aged 4 years, an orphan, enjoying herself in the playroom - she has had such painful operations and so it is good to help her forget this if even for a short time, each day. Florin, an orphan boy who has had a huge and painful surgery is now slowly improving and is lively and strong again. To see him climbing now is good but he needs lots of space so we take him out to the park, where he is beginning a new game - climbing!
Raluca, aged 4 years, returned to an orphanage after 6 months here. We hope to visit her in the not too distant future. There are many children with different stories - some sad, some happy but we try all the time to bring happiness into their lives. I have been called "mama" many times but, recently I have graduated to "mamaia" which means grandma!
